The association “Jugla Animal Protection Group” was registered on February 16, 2000. The basic tasks of the association are: rescuing animals left without shelter and care and maintenance of animal shelter “Labās mājas”; participation in the development of Latvian regulatory documents related to the provision of animal protection and examination of cases of animal cruelty; informing and educating the public about animal welfare conditions.
Currently, the association has grown into a very experienced Latvian animal protection organization. The association is a member of World Animal Protection (WAP) and a member of the EU Dog & Cat Alliance. The representative of the association is part of the Advisory Council for Animal Protection and Welfare of Latvia. The association is a member of the Latvian Civic Alliance. Since 2005, the “Juglas Animal Protection Group” association has been granted the status of public good.
The animal shelter “Labās mājas” maintained by the association “Juglas Dzīvnieku protection group” operates according to the “no-kill shelter” principle. Dogs and cats come to the shelter from all over Latvia and live here as long as new and caring owners are found for them.
